How we make Oddly
This page explains plainly how the articles on Oddly are made.
Two kinds of articles
Oddly publishes fact-based articles and fiction. Weird Facts, Cosmic Questions, Nature Did It First, How It Started, Odd Places, Kitchen Science and Word Journeys are fact-based: they describe real, documented things. Tiny Stories, Made-Up Words, Useless Inventions and Animal News are fiction, invented for fun. Every article carries a “Fact-based” or “Fiction” label, so you always know which one you are reading.
How the articles are made
The articles are written by an AI model, following our editorial rules, and the illustrations are made by AI image tools. Every new article is checked and approved by a person before it is published.
Each article is published in English, Russian, Spanish and Hebrew. The editor reads the English and Russian versions; the Spanish and Hebrew translations are not read by a person, but every one is checked automatically for missing text, the right alphabet and the same paragraphs as the English.
Sources
Fact-based articles list their sources at the end: at least two independent sources beyond Wikipedia, at least one of them a journal, a university, a museum, a science agency or another official body — or, when the article is about a word, an established dictionary. Wikipedia can be listed as further reading but never counts towards the two. AI can still get a detail wrong, so please check anything important with a trusted source.
When something is wrong
If you spot a mistake, please tell us. Factual corrections are noted on the article and on the corrections page.
