Accessibility

Oddly aims at Israeli Standard T.I. 5568 Level AA, which follows WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This page says what the site actually does, and where it still falls short. It is a statement of what has been built and tested — not a certification, and not a claim of full compliance.

Display controls

The Display button in the header opens a panel with three settings:

• Text size — normal, 150% or 200%. Everything on the page scales together, so nothing is cut off.
• View — light, dark, or whatever your device is already set to.
• Colour — full colour, or monochrome, which removes every hue from the page and from the illustrations.

Your choice is remembered in your own browser. It is never sent to us, and it sets no cookie.

Keyboard

Every link, button and control can be reached with the TAB key, in the order it appears on the page, and whatever has focus is outlined. The first TAB on any page offers a skip link that jumps straight to the article and moves the keyboard with it. Nothing on this site steals a key from you: the arrow keys scroll the page and operate the display panel, and never jump you to another page.

How the pages are built

• Each page declares its language and links to its own translations, so a screen reader pronounces the text correctly.
• Headings are real headings in order, and the article sits inside a main landmark.
• Text contrast is measured on the rendered page, not calculated from a palette — at least 4.5:1 for body text, in all four combinations of view and colour scheme.
• If your device asks for reduced motion, the card animations and the hover movement stop.

Where it falls short

Every article illustration carries a description, written in your language by looking at the picture rather than by rephrasing the headline — which matters, because some of these illustrations do not show what their title suggests. The small thumbnails in article lists are deliberately left undescribed: the whole card is one link that already reads out its category, title, summary and date, so describing the picture again would only make that longer.

Nobody who relies on a screen reader has used this site. Everything above was checked by machine: an automated audit across every page and every display setting, keyboard order read from the live page, contrast measured on rendered pixels, and the layout tested down to a 320-pixel screen at double text size. That is a real limit. A person using assistive technology finds things no automated check can, and until that happens this paragraph stays here.
